Camp Fire Songs

The people of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have played a central roll in the formation of our country.  We have a tradition established on the advancement of liberty in the Revolution against the British, the rights conceived in our founding documents, and universal justice revered by William Penn.  With these foundations we’ve enjoyed a fiercely independent citizenry who deals with others on the level, works hard to get ahead, respects a deal agreed to on a handshake, and demands their rights.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
As children we are brought up to love our land,

For amber waves of grain,
For our land is great
For purple mountain majesties
We are brought up on purity, independence, and freedom
Above the fruited plain!
This is not done by studying the constitution
America! America!
Nor by an explanation of states right
God shed his grace on thee
But in by the natural wonders of our land
And crown thy good with brotherhood
The awesomeness of each corner of our land our greatness is indivisible
From sea to shining sea!
We are taught to respect and defend them both.

O beautiful for heroes proved
And we are taught about heroes
In liberating strife.
Who fight for the rights of all
Who more than self their country loved
Individuals who endure hardship
And mercy more than life!
To give power to powerless
America! America!
Defending our land from those that would extort it
May God thy gold refine
From those that place riches over rights
Till all success be nobleness
Protecting the people from those privileged at birth
And every gain divine!
With a mission greater than any earthy call
